Whew! This one was a whirlwind- I finished this over the course of 2-3 days. However, I can't argue with the results! I'm so pleased with this project and I think is one of the most successful vintage dresses I've ever made.
(And it passes the twirl test- which is a must)
I started this project already knowing which pattern I wanted to use. Months ago, I had squirreled away the EvaDress "1938 Day or Evening Dress" from etsy. WWII Weekend 2019 was fast approaching and I knew it was the perfect opportunity to use it.
To start I took the pattern artwork into photoshop and tried a few different options to see what print I liked the best.
The printed yellow was a winner!
I didn't document much of the construction process because I was in such a hurry to make it. It came together pretty easily though, I would definitely recommend the pattern!
In-progress shots aside, I did get a lot of great pictures from the event!
I feel glam whenever I get a chance to wear this hat, it is so BIG!
You might recognize the hat from a previous post- it's an authentic vintage 1940's hat and it goes so well with this dress! The gloves were given to me by a close friend. They belonged to her grandmother and I'm beyond honored that she gifted them to me.
We got all dressed up for WWII Weekend! I go with my parents most years and I convinced them to start dressing up a few years ago. My mother is wearing a vintage-reproduction swiss dot dress, that I made for her.
